Dalles Campground 
near Missoula, MT off I90​

This peaceful gem sits 14.5 miles off I90 and gives you picturesque views of Rock Creek from your camp chairs!  It is a well shaded mixed fir forest canopy with not very much privacy between sites, but the sound of the rushing creek below is enough to give the site a good private feeling.   There are only 10 sites here and we were in site #4.   There are 2 additional campgrounds within a couple miles as well.  They say trailers, motorhomes and tow vehicles not recommended due to the narrow and rough road, but we had no issues and there were other trailers in the campground.

Getting Here:  
​Take I90 East from Missoula for 20 miles then take exit #126 for Rock Creek and go 14.5 miles South on Rock Creek Road #102.   The road is narrow and a bit rough.

Welcome Creek Trail 

Welcome Creek Trail #225 is a 6.5 mile out and back trail that starts less than a half mile from this campground.   It is ranked as easy with only 905 ft. elevation gain.  It can get busy, but the rough road keeps away the huge crowds so you can find some quiet here for sure.  Dog Friendly!   A fun swinging footbridge is at the trailhead.    It follows Welcome Creek and at has mild dips and climbs with a rocky uneven path here and there.  At the end there was once the remains of an old miner's cabin, Cinnabar Cabin, but research tells me it was destroyed by a fire since we were in the area.
