Mt Hood Meadows - Overnight Ski / Snowboard Parking
For Skiers and Boarders, owning a Truck Camper makes a very expensive sport much more affordable. We are White Pass season pass holders and several weekends a month we can be found up on the mountain enjoy the snow by day, and camping in our warm home away from home at night. We also like to travel to other mountains and try out different resort, but always bring our vacation home with us. Many resorts offer free or very inexpensive on mountain parking for self-contained RVs, trailers, and truck campers, making a weekend ski getaway much more affordable. You can make your own meals, although we often find ourselves trying out the lodge specialties too. And as a bonus you meet some pretty nice people who enjoy the same things you do. Mt Hood Meadows is very Truck Camper Friendly! According to the website they can accommodate 14 RVs, but I think we have seen them squeeze in a few more. There is no extra cost to stay overnight here. You do need the regular Sno-park permit that is required of all vehicles, and in addition the RVs need to get a free permit from the mountain for the dash and a copy of the rules (which I posted in my pics), and you can view on their website. We have visited on weekdays where you have the place to yourselves and on a 3 day weekend when the parking area was completely full, but the mountain didn't seem all that crowded. Great snow and some sunshine too! This is quickly turning into one of our favorite mountains to visit.
Just a cool shot with an old building by the Mt Hood Winery.
