Cape Lookout State Park
Tillamook, OR
Cape Lookout State Park is a great spot for beach lovers who like the comforts of an established campground. This park would be a little too busy for our style in the summer, so we visited in winter and enjoyed it minus the crowds! The campground sits on a spit up against the Pacific Ocean and allows for terrific sunset views and easy access to the beach. There is also a very popular 4.6 mi trail. (Click here for a trail map) We arrived late on our last night of travel and had to leave somewhat early in the morning so we did not get to enjoy the Cape Lookout Trail - we will be back! The campground itself is a typical state park set up in loops, nestled in a lush coastal forest butted up against the ocean on a sand spit between the Pacific Ocean and Netarts Bay. There are 35 full hook up sites and 170+ tent sites. There is potable water, restrooms with flush toilets and hot showers, and an RV dump station. There are also Yurts and Cabins for those who prefer a little more comfort - some of which are pet friendly! Our site was D48, no hookups, $21 a night in winter 2018. No problem just pulling in and getting a spot in the winter, in summer reservations are a must. Click here for a campground map & guide.
