Watchman Campground, Zion National Park
In looking at my trip photos for Zion it occurs to me that my campsite ratings could be easily determined by the number of photos I take of a campsite. The North Rim of the Grand Canyon site that will likely forever be one of my favorites - literally hundreds of photos..... Zion - a grand total of 7! To say the least I didn't enjoy this campground at all..... but it served the purpose we needed it for. It is not unlike the cheap hotel that you pick just to get you close to the attraction you are wanting to visit - you don't spend much time in the room (campsite) at a place like this, so there you go. The main reason we chose to stay at an official campground here was because private vehicles are not allowed on the main park road and you can access the shuttle with a short walk from the campground. It saved us from having to find parking for our larger than norm vehicle. The campground itself is basic.... sites are close together, dusty, no privacy. There are 176 sites in 6 loops. Bathrooms were clean. If you are in normal shape it is an easy walk to town for dinner.... or ice cream on a hot day. We had our bikes as well so we rode those around town. We were in Loop B site #009.
