Maryhill State Park, Goldendale, WA
Maryhill State Park is located near Goldendale, WA and sits alongside the Columbia River making it a popular summer destination. The park is open year-round and we enjoy visiting in winter when we have the park nearly to ourselves. The park has 71 sites, 50 of them with hookups. The park has restrooms with showers, RV dump, swimming area, boat launch and a 1.1 mi shoreline trail. Reservations are a must in the summer, but in the off season you might be lucky and be all alone in a beautiful waterfront site like we were. We were in site #33.
A word of caution - The railroad tracks are close to the campsites and trains go by throughout the night. If you are a light sleeper you may wish to bring earplugs.

Nearby Hikes, Bikes & Other Sights.....
There is plenty nearby to do even in winter. Nearby you can visit Stonehenge, Glendale Observatory, and the Maryhill Museum of Art. If wine is your thing, the Maryhill Winery, Jacob WIlliams Winery, and Cascade Cliffs are just a short drive away as well as many more. Or get some exercise on one of the many trails in the area.
Horsethief Butte Trail
About 20 minutes west lies Columbia Hills State Park, which has 12.4 miles of trails including this one. An easy short hike, about 1.1 miles, to some great views. There is an easy option and a more difficult option, some of my photos were taken by going clockwise around the butte and taking the more difficult approach, however you eventually end up at the same place.
Mason loves a little patch of snow!
Directions: About 17 miles West on Hwy 14 to Columbia Hills State Park. The Horsethief Butte trail is on the river side. A Discovery Pass is required to park at the trail head.
