Emery Bay Campground
Flathead National Forest ~ Hungry Horse Reservoir
Emery Bay Campground sits on the shores of the massive Hungry Horse Reservoir near Glacier National Park and Whitefish, Montana. After driving on several miles of dusty forest service road you will arrive to find 26 campsites and some are first come first serve! We arrived on a Sunday evening with no reservation and while we could not get a waterfront site, site #9 served our needs well. It was very private and roomy, had a bit of sun for solar, large trees for shade, and even had a good tree for the hammock. A short walk away was the boat launch and other areas to get to the water, Mason had a great time diving off the rocks.

Hungry Horse Reservoir ~ Kayaking to an Island!
Hot Days on the water! We spent this one on a little island in the middle of the reservoir. We launched from Doris Point Boat Launch where there was a $5 fee to launch (in 2017). From the launch to the island was about a 3.5 mi easy paddle round trip. We loaded up the chairs, the cooler, and the dog.... and spent the day on our own little beach, enjoying the sun, the views, the water, and our time together!
