Pettit Lake
This peaceful campground sits at the base of the Sawtooth Mountains along the shores of Pettit Lake, off Idaho 75 between popular and busy Redfish and Alturas Lakes. The campground is very wide open, however it is not widely used so several spots were open during our visit giving it a private feel. We arrived on July 1st, just before the holiday and we were the only ones there until the 3rd! The road in is more heavily used as the campground backs up to the Tin Cup trail head, a popular day use and backpacking trail. There are no hookups and no reservations. Each site has a picnic table and a fire ring. There is a vault toilet. No drinking water in the campground however there is a well pump in the trail head parking lot. The lake here is beautiful and access to the water is easy from many spots in the campground. One other thing to note is that the sites are very dusty, after 4 nights here we felt like everything needed a bath. In 2015 the fee was $14 per night.
