Bowman Lake
Glacier National Park
Way back in 2003 when we were new at this truck camper thing, we drove our truck and camper down 32.5 miles of bumpy dusty road to get to Bowman Lake while on our first visit to Glacier National Park. The campground sits on the edge of Bowman Lake and has 46 sites. It only fills about 50% of the time, so your chances are much better at getting a site here than other campgrounds in the park, but you will have to endure the bumpy & dusty drive! There are vault toilets and potable water available. We were in site #38 on our visit. Despite mosquitos as large as birds we loved this quiet less crowded part of the park. The deer were nearly as plentiful as the mosquitos, and pretty tame, hanging very close to the campsites.

About 25 miles from the Apgar Visitor Center on the way to Bowman Lake is the tiny "town" of Polebridge. It is worth a stop, especially in the morning hours when the bread is fresh at the Polebridge Mercantile - oh so yummy!
