Moses Lake Mud Flats & Sand Dunes
Dispersed Site
Sometimes when you are on a long road trip and you are en route from place to place you just need a quick place to pull over and park for the night. You don't want to spend $40 for a campsite and you don't want to spend the night in the Walmart Parking lot. If you are near Moses Lake and it is midweek, this site is a good alternative. On weekends I do think it is busy with sand dune riders so it might not be a good option then. This visit was on a Wednesday night in late June...... we were the only rig there. There are much deeper sand spots as you continue into the dunes, but this spot just after you reach the area is easily drive able by most vehicles.
For some reason the google maps direction feature takes you all the way around Moses Lake in order to get to this site. I believe the much easier route is to take Hwy 17 South off I90 (exit 179), then turn right on Baseline Rd. From Baseline Road turn left on Potato Hill Rd SE. Potato Hill Rd then continues onto Sand Dune Rd. The spot pictured above was not too far in on Sand Dune Rd.
