Laundry Day Tips!
Doing laundry on the road is way different than laundry at home. Get rid of all the rules you know and think about how you can save time!
The Tips!!!
* First of all - Do not wear more clothes than you need to! You can wear the same items multiple times and cut down on laundry.
* Combine Laundry Day with Task Day..... Mr. Wander drops me off at the laundromat with the laundry and my coffee and he goes to get groceries, propane, fuels up with diesel, & dumps the tanks, and fills up with water. By the time he is done - Laundry is Done!
* Look online for a large more modern laundry facility. If you can do all of your loads at the same time you will save a ton of time.
* Go as soon as they open - for a couple reasons. First, you might be all alone and be able to get multiple machines right next to each other. Second, laundromats get very warm and it is better to be in there in the early morning when it is still cool outside!
* Take your own laundry soap and dryer sheets with you on the road. Keep a small bottle of your laundry detergent (a travel shampoo bottle works well) and your dryer sheets in the rig. The last thing you want to have to do is use an unknown detergent that might make you irritated or smells bad. On a 3 week road trip we can get by with one laundry day so a travel bottle of detergent is enough for us.
* Keep a small coin purse of quarters with you on the road. Not only do some campgrounds charge for showers, but you might also need them for laundry. The nicer / newer laundromats take credit and debit but sometimes coins are necessary.
* Sort by fabric type, not by color! Very different than what mamma taught you, but it will save you so much time to have loads that dry in about the same time. You can start folding the quick drying load while the long drying load is still drying.
* Have a laundry "basket" that you use for other things. We have a rubbermaid in the shower that we use for holding shoes. On laundry day it becomes our laundry basket when lined with a big laundry bag. Laundry Bag goes in the quick drying laod and is ready for folding when the first load is done.
* Take something to do while you wash.... do not leave your clothes! I edit photos, check social media, or read and before I know it the wash is ready to be folded! Set your phone timer for the shortest load and you can get started on the folding as possible.
